This is my home where I live with my parents

Sawasdee Krab!

My name is Sunet Gaewwien ,or you can call me Mac. I am now studying in grade 7 at Ban Tub Kee School, Loei province. I love playing soccer. I always practice playing soccer with my friends after school. My dream is to be a national soccer player when I grow up.

“ … I saw my friends were wearing new school uniforms and I really wished to have one, but my parents did not have enough money to afford it ”

When I go back home in the evening, I help my parents with household chores to lessen their burden. On the weekends, I also help them work in the corn field to earn extra income for our family. My parents are quite poor. The income is solely from their menial jobs in the field, which is not enough to support our daily lives. They sometimes need to borrow money from the neighbors. Some days, I do not get any allowances to go to school.

When school opened new semester, I saw my friends were wearing new school uniforms and I really wished to have one, but my parents did not have enough money to afford it. Then I heard from my guidance teacher about EDF and how they provide scholarships to poor students like me. I decided to apply for the scholarship to continue my education and at least to complete lower secondary school (Grade 9).

I felt very happy and delighted to received an EDF scholarship this year. I promised to be diligent in studying and do my best. For the scholarship fund, I spent it for my new school uniform and necessary school supplies.

This is me receiving my scholarship from my teacher

I would like to say thank you to the scholarship donors for realizing the importance of giving the gift of educational opportunity to less fortunate students, which is such a great opportunity for me. I really appreciate and am thankful for your support and promise to study hard. Khob Khun Krab!
